Mountainous Georgia from Tusheti to Khevsureti

Day 1 – From Tbilisi drive to Kakheti region, on the way visit Sighnaghi old-city, Bodbe monastery, fortified medieval citadel of Gremi, Gurjaani Kvelatsminda church, stay overnight at the guesthouse Vazisubani near Telavi.

Day 3 - Visit architectural complex of Alaverdi, ancient academy of Ikalto and Shuamta monasteries. Drive to Tusheti province with off-road vehicle, sightseeing in Omalo, administrative centre of the region, and cultural excursion to open-air ethnography museum, stay overnight at the Hotel Kamsuri in Omalo.

Day 4 – Trekking to the museum villages: Shenakho, Diklo and Dartlo, stay overnight in tents near Dartlo village (trekking approx. 20 km).
Day 5 - Trekking to Atsuna Pass along the Pirikiti Alazani River. Stay overnight in tents near Kvakhidi (trekking aprox. 18 km).
Day 6 - Trekking along the Pirikiti Alazani to the camping place. Stay overnight in tents near the river (trekking aprox. 20 km).
Day 7 - Cross the Adsunta pass on 3600 m height and enter from Tusheti to Khevsureti province, overnight in tents behind the pass (trekking approx. 16 km).

Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park trekking route

Day 1 - drive to Borjomi Region, excursion in Georgian old capital Mzkheta and city of Gori. Arrival in Borjomi at the evening, dinner and accommodation at Likani Palace hotel in Borjomi province.

Vardzia Cave Town in Georgia

The Cave City of Vardzia is a cave monastery in southern Georgia near Aspindza. It was founded by Queen Tamar in 1185. The monastery was constructed as protection from the Mongols. and consisted of over six thousand apartments in a thirteen story complex. The city included a church, a throne room, and a complex irrigation system watering terraced farmlands. The only access to the complex was through some well hidden tunnels near the Mtkvari River. In the modern days Cave Town of Vardzia is a major tourist attraction in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia.

BTK railway line connects: Baku (Azerbaijan) - Tbilisi (Georgia ) - Kars (Turkey)

The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line will connect Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan. The total estimated cost of the project is $600 million and must be completed by the end of 2012.

This Project will improve trade and economic relations between this three Caucasus Countries as well as gaining foreign direct investment by connecting Europe and Asia.

Construction work on the project began in 2007, but in 2009, the construction activities of the BTK railway line were suspended due to the Georgian-Ossetian conflict and some technical problems.

Azerbaijan tour Itinerary from EXOTOUR 2010 year


Day 1: Your walking tour of Baku includes the medieval walled city "Icheri Sheher" with its narrow alleyways, historic caravanserais, mosques and Palace of the Shirvanshahs. Visit the 12th century Maiden’s Tower, the imposing mansions of the oil barons, built in the oil boom of 1870-1914 and Martyr’s Alley with its superb views over the Bay of Baku. Lunch. A trip to the Absheron Peninsula, visiting the Zoroastrian Fire Temple and Yanardagh (Burning Mountain). Dinner at Karvansaray restaurant with national music show program.

Day 2: Departure for Gabala early in the morning. The city, which is situated 225km from Baku, was built 1,800 years ago, for 600 of which it served as the capital of Caucasian Albania. The program includes visits to the historical museum and Albanian church in the Nij village.



Day 3: Depart for the Caucasus Mountains in the northwest of Azerbaijan. The dry landscape around Baku gives way to a densely forested mountain area. Visit the town of Shemakha, Juma Mosque and Yeddi Gumbez. Lunch in local café. Drive to Sheki. Check in at Sheki Saray Hotel. Drive into the countryside to the village of Kish with the oldest church in the Caucasus dating from the first century and enjoy walks in the surrounding Caucasus foothills.

Day 4: Transfer from Sheki to Shemakha. In this city, you will have the opportunity to visit such historical and architectural monuments as the Juma Mosque (19th century), Yeddi Gumbez (Seven Domes) and the observatory of the great scientist, N. Tusi, where one can see one of the biggest and most ancient telescopes in the world. Return to Sheki.


Day 5: Visit the Royal Summer Palace of the Sheki Khans with its magnificent frescoes and stained glass as well as Sheki Museum and Fortress. Drive to Baku. Visit to Kish and lunch on the road.

Day 6: Baku – Guba – Baku. Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Guba, the northern part of Azerbaijan, border with Russia. Visit the Krasnaya Slobada, the Jewish settlement in Azerbaijan. Drive back to Baku.
